THANH HA TERRACOTTA MUSEUM

I am lost in a maze of land and fire in this architecture in the shape of a pottery oven from the Thanh Hà village. Both towers made from bricks and bamboo with a scale of 6,500m2, it is a place to preserve the 500 years old tradition of the Thanh Hà pottery village.

In the memories of young architecture Mr Nguyễn Văn Nguyên - born at Thanh Hà still remain of the days he spent playing with the pottery from his village. After almost 20 years away from home, he returned to thanh hà, his birthplace to build this structure based on a pottery oven.
As you step into this 6,500 m2 land is a picture of 2 building made by purely bricks as according to Mr Nguyen describes a place you keep the soul and beauty of the Thanh hà village 500 years ago as it represent a pottery oven: a up stove and a down stove with over 2.000m2.

In its big interior of these 2 building is a story told by objects and images... connected through the 500 years of the village. According to Mr Nguyên, the story tells about the fire and pottery that a young architect puts so much money and dedication to build the first terracota park in Hội an
Mr Nguyen also recall the day the he returned for almost 20 years to meet the elderly of the village to ask permission to build the terracotta park. It is a adventure to return to the beginning, in a universe which is "made completely put of pottery" according to the elders of the village will where Nguyens decendant will be free with creativness and fire to keep the 500 year old tradition.

In this 2,00m2 space of the 2 structure in the shape of oven is a world of fire, land, and grass hundreds of year ago. The red bricks make a brown of soil and ground or the color of pottery. A world of terracotta, pottery made from bare hands, hands and feet constantly working every inch of their lives.
Mr Nguyễn Thị Được recalls: "This village breathes terracotta. Thanks to it, we have pots, and thanks to that our sons and daughter can study....if there is pottery the there is life.."

This whole miniature area of the park after over 4 years of construction is the beauty of 500 years, a dream of all the Thanh Hà. Though called a park, but it also serves as a museum of pottery, a big home for all the sculptor and artist from every corner of Vietnam to come and be creative with idea about pottery and fire to create.
