Thanh Hà pottery village View
 
According legend and the people of  Thanh Hoa - Nghe An, They went to the South of Vietnam carried by water and their boats encountered fierce storms, so they moored at "Con Dong" (one of 13 hamlets of Thanh Ha) to anchor their boats out of the storm. This charming waterway, at the junction of the road and the river, meant that the founders of the village did not need to search anymore, they put down foundations and  claimed their homeland.

Faifo pork in 17th century
 
Additionally, Thanh Hà village to the port of Hoi An 3km. At that time, This was Faifo port. The port of traders at home and abroad. So very favorable for the sale of products at the port, which the village developed. Thanh Chiếm hamlet (Now block 5, Thanh Hà Ward) adjacent to Thu Bồn river, with large source of clay should be chosen as the place to develop pottery village. However, The Thu Bồn river had shifted the South increasing. The beginning of the nineteenth century, Forefather moved the oven to Nam Diêu. Nam Diêu became the center of Thanh Hà pottery, Where forefather made pottery temple structure that annual villagers organized ritual and exists to this day.

At that time, the Thanh Ha pottery influenced by the Sa Huynh culture - State Champa had previously existed. So we find many Champa products in Thanh Ha ceramics.

In the two of 17 and 18 century. The products of Thanh Hà pottery village had created a quality in the market and became one of the main items provided to  merchants to trade in the Faifo port. In particular, Thanh Hà pottery village was manufacturing and supplying of bricks, tiles for ancient houses in Hoi An - That recognized by UNESCO as World Cultural Heritage.
